This is my “now” page inspired by Derek Sievers. It answers “what I’m doing now?“. My life, projects and priorities. I post an update here every 1-3 months.
What’s up as of August 2025?
Lately I’ve been slowing down, taking stock, and enjoying a quieter rhythm. Turning 50 felt like the right moment to pause, look back at earlier versions of myself, and notice what’s changed. Gratitude has been a big part of that reflection, but so has experimenting; from camping adventures that turned into leadership lessons, to tinkering with small AI tools that make daily life easier. It feels less about chasing big breakthroughs and more about noticing, testing, and enjoying the season I’m in right now.
🙏 Gratitude and Version 5.0
I took a deliberate step back from the online world to celebrate the release of Piotr 5.0 😉 and reflect on what the earlier versions taught me. Over the past few years, the biggest shift has been building a daily practice of gratitude. Writing just a few lines in my journal each morning has opened my eyes to what’s already here: time, health, home-cooked meals, slow coffee mornings, calm weekends, meaningful conversations, and people I love who love me back.
Gratitude has become more than a private ritual. It’s shaped how I show up at work too — less rushed, more present, and more grounded in what’s already working instead of constantly chasing what’s missing. Looking back, this simple practice feels like the real upgrade in version 5.0.
🔧 Putting AI Into Practice
This summer I carried more than just a backpack. I brought fresh ideas from two AI courses and one on leadership. And it didn’t take long before theory turned into practice. When my kids were at sailing camp, the organisers posted photos online at random times. Instead of refreshing all day, I built a small AI workflow that checked for updates and pinged me on Slack. Problem solved.
Later I expanded it to handle hundreds of photos a day, making them easier to download and search. That’s what excites me most about AI right now: how simple it’s becoming to build small tools that solve very concrete problems in the moment. I’m planning to share more of these experiments soon on the blog.
🏕️ A Tent, a Train, and Situational Leadership
This summer I realised that leadership lessons don’t just happen at work. They can show up in a tent or on a train. Pitching a tent with the kids was a classic D1 beginner moment (high energy but little experience) while later, my son guided us onto a mountain train like a true D4 self-reliant achiever. Same person, same trip, completely different needs.
That’s the essence of Situational Leadership (SLII®): people’s competence and confidence shift depending on the task, and leaders need to flex their style to match. Sometimes that means giving clear direction, sometimes it means stepping back with trust and encouragement.
