This is my “now” page inspired by Derek Sievers. It answers “what I’m doing now?“. My life, projects and priorities. I post an update here every 1-3 months.
What’s up as of June 2025?
It’s been a season of intense learning, serious hiking, and intentional slowing down. I just wrapped up the AIDevs course — probably the toughest and most rewarding thing I’ve done in a while. In the middle of it all, we escaped to Madeira as a family, exploring levadas by foot and fried bananas by fork. And while the podcast and blog took a back seat, I’m now letting the dust settle — planning the next season, where I’ll dive into the real-world use of AI for technical leaders. Curious? Questions? Let’s talk.
Coffee, Levadas, and Fried Bananas — Our Family Trip to Madeira 🐟
We spent a magical week on Madeira — a Portuguese island that feels like a mix between Hawaii and Jurassic Park. Most of our days were spent hiking the levadas — narrow irrigation channels that wind through the island’s lush green mountains.
They’re not just practical (built centuries ago to bring water to farmland), but also perfect trails for families. Flat, scenic, and shaded — they turned our hikes into long, chatty strolls with the kids.
Food was its own adventure. Imagine grilled espada (black scabbardfish) paired with fried banana — odd combo, but it works. And then came almond cassata — a chilled, nutty dessert that instantly became my go-to with afternoon coffee. I might have eaten my body weight in it. No regrets.
Also… while everyone napped post-hike, I snuck in some quality time with Python. Because nothing says “holiday” like debugging API calls on a balcony with an espresso.
Continuing learning about AI 🤖
I first heard about AIDevs — another program from Brave Courses — during the AI Managers course. It was said to be harder, more technical, more demanding. In other words, probably not for someone like me — a person with a technical background, but no regular programming practice.
And yet… I decided to take the risk and join.
I signed up literally at the last minute.
And honestly? The start felt like a cold shower.
Skipped the pre-work? Big mistake.
The first few days felt like installing Gentoo for the first time: frustration, chaos, and the thought — “Maybe this just isn’t for me…”
I seriously considered taking the refund that the course creators offered.
Luckily, I’ve learned not to make decisions in a crisis.
I gave myself until the weekend. On Saturday, I sat down, caught up, installed the tools and… something clicked.
My Linux experience helped me get moving — and even tackle some of the bonus challenges.
I started working on two fronts: solving tasks and learning Python — the only language I had any experience with.
Five weeks later, I can say one thing: it was worth it.
Each lesson came with a solid dose of theory (text, video, examples in the repo) plus a challenge to solve.
All wrapped in a narrative structure — like a spy story, where each day brought new challenges, but also clues from the previous ones.
It was truly engaging.
There was even a “5:01 club” — a group of people who started solving tasks at the crack of dawn.
Support? It was there, and it was excellent — from the instructors, moderators, and most of all, from the community.
This wasn’t just a course — it was a shared experience.
Is AIDevs a course for everyone? Absolutely not. But if you finish it, you’ll see the world of AI in a completely different way.
What did I learn? A few key takeaways:
📌 Am I a developer now? No.
But I understand what “vibe coding” feels like, and which tools are worth knowing.
📌 Did I build production-ready solutions? No.
But thanks to what I learned, I’ll be able to build a simple assistant-agent to automate everyday tasks.
📌 Did my management experience help? Yes!
Especially for giving very precise instructions to tools like Cursor and for designing prompts.
It felt a bit like giving tasks to a smart junior developer 🤓
🎯 Would I recommend this course? Absolutely.
Especially in a world full of “AI guru charlatans” — AIDevs is a course rooted in real knowledge, not hype.
🙏 Finally, a big thank you:
Jakub, Adam, Mateusz — you’ve created something much more than just a course.
This was a fantastic journey, full of knowledge, challenges, and a real sense of community around a topic that is — and will remain — vital in the tech world.
Thank you for your energy, dedication, and the way you teach — with passion and humor.
Much respect and big thanks! 🫡
Podcast Pause and What’s Brewing Next 🎙️
Between the AIDevs course and family travels, I’ve pressed pause on the blog and podcast for a bit. I’m treating it as a chance to reset and think about what’s next.
I’m especially excited to share ideas on how technical leaders can use AI in real, practical ways — but first, I want to let everything from AI Managers and AIDevs sink in. I need time to process, review my notes, and build something truly useful.
