This is my “now” page inspired by Derek Sievers. It answers “what I’m doing now?“. My life, projects and priorities. I post an update here every 1-3 months.
What’s up as of June 2023?
One of our goals for this year is to travel a lot. We’ve been optimising for this regarding decisions, effort and cost allocation. I believe the University of Life is the best school ever. And travelling is the master class within this school. And there we go; for the past couple of months, we have travelled a lot as a family.
Visiting Scotland 🏴
We planned this last year. And finally, we were able to go. Scotland!
Scotland is a treasure trove of breathtaking natural landscapes and historical landmarks. We managed to visit several spots in the country that showcase its unique beauty and charm.
Glenfinnan is a must-visit location nestled amidst the spectacular scenery of the Scottish Highlands. Its most famous feature is the Glenfinnan Viaduct. This iconic railway bridge has gained international fame through its appearances in the Harry Potter films. The area offers magnificent views of Loch Shiel, surrounded by rolling hills and majestic mountains, making it a paradise for nature enthusiasts and photographers.
Ballachulish is a quaint village located on the western coast of Scotland, near the entrance to the Glencoe Valley. Surrounded by stunning mountains and tranquil lochs, Ballachulish is a paradise for hikers and outdoor enthusiasts. The village exudes a peaceful charm, with traditional stone cottages and friendly locals. Visitors can explore the nearby Glencoe, a glacial valley renowned for its rugged beauty and dramatic landscapes.
Glencoe is a favourite destination for climbers, hillwalkers, and nature lovers, offering opportunities to witness cascading waterfalls, towering peaks, and ancient geological formations.
Foyers, situated on the eastern shore of Loch Ness, is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. This picturesque village is home to the spectacular Falls of Foyers. This waterfall tumbles dramatically down a gorge into a deep pool below. We wandered through scenic walks along the wooded trails, capturing glimpses of the cascades and enjoying the tranquillity of the surrounding nature.
Loch Ness is an attraction worth exploring, with its mystical magnetism and the legendary creature said to dwell within its depths. Inverness, known as the capital of the Highlands, serves as the gateway to Loch Ness and offers a vibrant city experience with its historical sites, charming architecture, and bustling shopping streets.
Inverness is also an ideal base for further exploration of the Scottish Highlands. The city is set along the banks of the River Ness. It provides easy access to attractions such as Culloden Battlefield, where the famous battle between the Jacobites and British government forces occurred in 1746. Additionally, the region boasts several stunning castles, including Urquhart Castle, which stands on the shores of Loch Ness, and Cawdor Castle, with its picturesque gardens and rich history.

Rereading book: “Can’t hurt me” 📕
“Can’t Hurt Me” is a book written by David Goggins, a former Navy SEAL, endurance athlete, and motivational speaker. The book combines Goggins’ personal memoir with valuable lessons and strategies for overcoming challenges and achieving personal growth.
In the book, Goggins shares his life story, starting from a childhood filled with poverty, abuse, and prejudice. He reveals his struggles with obesity, low self-esteem, and a lack of direction. However, through his determination and unwavering mindset, Goggins transforms himself into a Navy SEAL, an ultra-endurance athlete, and a highly accomplished individual.
Goggins emphasises the importance of embracing discomfort and pushing beyond perceived limitations. He introduces the concept of the “cookie jar,” a mental tool that involves drawing strength from past successes to overcome present obstacles. Goggins also highlights the significance of accountability, self-discipline, and an unwavering work ethic in achieving personal goals.
“Can’t Hurt Me” equipped me with some actionable strategies, such as goal-setting techniques, visualisation exercises, and a relentless pursuit of self-improvement. Through his book, Goggins challenges me to confront my fears, embrace discomfort, and break free from self-imposed limitations.
Thinking about the future generations 🌱
I know it sounds odd. However, with all the information noise, and the speed of recent technological changes, I am trying to distil some universal skills to help my kids to grow and be ready. I talk a lot to my friends who have kids of different ages, and it triggers some good conversations.
I recorded a podcast episode about my thoughts on that topic.
